A Century in Motion: The Caterpillar Centennial World Tour
To celebrate Caterpillar’s 100-year milestone and recognize the employees who have shaped its legacy, Caterpillar partnered with MC² to create the Caterpillar Centennial World Tour, a global traveling experience that reached more than 100,000 employees, dealers, customers, and community members across 25 countries.
Designed for a global footprint spanning 139 locations in 18 languages, the tour brought a consistent, high-impact experience directly to Caterpillar facilities around the world. Built from four expandable trailers, the mobile environment transformed into a cohesive, museum-like space that showcased the brand’s history, highlighted its current impact, and looked ahead to the next 100 years.

Delivering this experience on a global scale requires a highly coordinated approach across design, fabrication, and deployment. Multiple units were developed in parallel and engineered for consistency, ensuring each installation performed the same way regardless of location. As the tour moved from country to country, teams navigated varying regulations, shipping requirements, and site conditions, adapting to each environment while maintaining a unified interactive experience.
The experience was supported by a flexible ecosystem that included a primary trailer pod (53’ or 44’), a simulator unit, an integrated Cat generator powering the full setup, and a Caterpillar Foundation tent highlighting the company’s global charitable initiatives. Designed as a series of local activations rather than a single centralized event, the tour created opportunities for connection at each stop across five continents, with each location requiring close coordination between global teams and on-the-ground partners.

Inside, visitors moved through immersive environments centered on sustainability, innovation, digital connectivity, and global reach. Large-format media, physical artifacts, and interactive elements guided audiences through a structured experience, blending storytelling with hands-on engagement. From digital touchpoints to motion-based simulation, each moment was designed to bring Caterpillar’s equipment, technology, and impact to life in a dynamic, memorable way.

Community impact was embedded directly into the tour through the Caterpillar Foundation’s presence at every stop, with charitable donations made to local nonprofit organizations in each region that resulted in $2 million in global donations. A core objective of the program was to ensure each location experienced tangible local benefits, in addition to Caterpillar’s $100 million pledge to invest in training, upskilling, and education for future-focused roles in automation, AI, and robotics.

The Caterpillar Centennial World Tour recognized the workforce behind the brand, celebrating the people who have built its legacy over the last century. MC² brought this vision to life through precise execution and global operational capabilities, delivering a consistent, elevated brand experience at every stop. Here’s to the next 100 years of innovation and impact.
