Accounts Payable Manager - Paramus, NJ

General Role Description

The ideal candidate will comfortably manage and coordinate the accounts payable function for the organization. Directs and oversees the daily management of the accounts payable staff and ensures the accurate and timely processing and payment of invoices with respect to standardized processes and procedures.


Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Manages the day-to-day accounts payable activities, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices and vendor payments
  • Prepare journal entries/month-end accruals
  • Reconciliation of g/l and vendor accounts
  • Supervises and trains accounts payable staff of one other. Communicates policies, practices and procedures, monitors adherence
  • Establishes and maintains account files
  • Assist Purchasing and Treasurer with daily disbursement compilation
  • Coordinate and manage Electronic Payment system upgrades and improvements to boost timely outcomes
  • Reports payables activities to Controller
  • Performs other duties and completes projects as assigned


Non-Essential Functions:

  • Conducts employee performance evaluations
  • Assists other members of the accounting department


Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or comparable experience
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in purchasing and accounts payables 3 of which in a management role or supervisor role
  • Ability to communicate and train relative accounts payable and company procedures
  • Must have knowledge of vendor maintenance, including treatment of subcontractors and  W-9 procedures
  • Working knowledge of exhibit industry preferred
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments in a dynamic, fast paced environment including multiple divisions
  • Proven leadership ability
  • Strong organizational, time management and negotiation skills
  • Good communication and vendor relation skills
  • PC skills, focus on Microsoft Office Suite – emphasis on Excel
  • Solid math skills, detail oriented a must
  • Ability to work a varied and flexible schedule
